New York, July 22, 2001 – Woo Song, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Reval™ was recently named the 2001 Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year in the Information Technology Services category for New York City. Reval is the leading supplier of web-based treasury management solutions with a special focus on derivatives and FAS133/138 compliance.
Mr. Song is actively involved in managing Reval’s growth by shaping the company’s corporate and technology strategies. A technologist with derivatives trading experience, Mr. Song brings a uniquely qualified perspective to on-line risk management and oversees the development of Reval’s unique XML-based architecture for secure financial e-services.
Prior to founding Reval with Jiro Okochi, Reval’s CEO, Mr. Song co-founded Intrasphere Technologies, Inc., a web-consulting firm with over 100 employees and an international presence with established clients such as MasterCard and Pfizer. As Intrasphere’s chairman, Mr. Song oversees the company’s strategic direction.
"It’s challenging enough starting up one company, let alone two," Mr. Okochi said. "The fact that Reval and Intrasphere are in different spaces, have different business models and are both doing well in one of the toughest entrepreneurial environments, is proof of Woo Song’s outstanding business instincts."
Ernst & Young uses a rigorous process for the selection of the Entrepreneur of the Year. A panel of judges comprised of community, business and civic leaders, academicians, and prior year award winners assesses the nominees. Regional winners are selected for their companies’ financial growth and performance, qualitative information, employee growth, entrepreneurial story, and unique characteristics. Each regional winner becomes eligible for the National Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Mr. Song will participate in the national event, to be held in Palm Springs, California in November 2001.
The program is sponsored nationally by USA Today, CNN, the Nasdaq Stock Market and the Kauffman Center in Entrepreneurial Leadership. New York sponsors include Citigroup Private Bank, and Marsh.
